DnD Go — Privacy Policy

DnD Go ("the app") is a location-based tabletop RPG companion app. This policy explains what data the app accesses and how it is used.

DnD Go is self-hosted. The app connects to a server address you enter yourself — typically one run by your Game Master. That server, not the app's developer, stores and controls your account and gameplay data. The developer of DnD Go does not operate a central server, does not receive your data, and has no access to any world you connect to.

Information the app accesses on your device

Location (foreground and background). Used to show nearby creatures and spawn zones on the live map, and to detect when you enter a GM-configured dungeon geofence. Location is sent only to the server you have connected to, for as long as the app is running or, if you grant background permission, while it is active in the background. It is not sent anywhere else.
Bluetooth. Used only while inside a dungeon, to detect other nearby players for in-game proximity features. This is a local device-to-device scan and is not transmitted to any server.

Information you provide

Account: username, email address, and password (stored as a salted hash — the app never stores or transmits your plaintext password after account creation).
Character data: race, class, stats, inventory, and progress you create in the game.

This information is stored only on the server you connect to. It is not shared with the app developer or any third party.

What we don't do

No advertising or ad tracking
No analytics or crash-reporting SDKs that transmit data to the developer
No sale or sharing of personal data with third parties
No data collected by the app developer at all — all data lives on the server you choose to connect to

Data retention and deletion

Because DnD Go is self-hosted, data retention and deletion are controlled by the operator of the server you use (e.g. your Game Master). To request deletion of your account or character data, contact the person running your server. If you operate your own server, you control this directly via the database.

Children's privacy

DnD Go is not directed at children under 13, and knowingly does not collect data from children under 13. Because the app is self-hosted, age-appropriate use is the responsibility of the server operator.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this same URL with a revised "Last updated" date.
